  11. publicised Devotion #2, I'd previously
  12. felt no pressure to  discuss or  write
  13. any articles on the developments which
  14. unfolded behind the scenes  away  from
  15. your    knowledge.   However,    after
  16. conversing with  several  sceners,  it
  17. unexpectedly became apparent that they
  18. had formulated some  idea  about  »CLA:Wade
  19. and  I  had   become  fierce  enemies»CL1:.
  20. Moreover, various misled  people  have
  21.

  30. turned against Wade  believing he went
  31. behind my back. This article  has been
  32. composed  solely  to  set  the  record
  33. straight, and to  ensure  no  blame is
  34. misdirected.

  36. »CL0:          What About Magic?
  37.  
  38. »CL1:Before  I  dive  any further, one must
  39. clear  the  confusion  Magic   had  so
  40. kindly  set  up. It wasn't long before
  41. my  secret  was  out  in  the  general
  42. public that  infact  »CL8:I hadn't left the
  43. scene,  and  only   used  this  as  an
  44. attempt to cover up  my  plans to work
  45. on Devotion #2»CL1:. I had planned it to be
  46. a surprise for our  unexpecting  Amiga
  47. scene.  Somehow,  somewhere  down  the
  48. line Magic had  grasped  wind of this.
  49. Moreover,  finding  out  he  no longer
  50. had any association with the  magazine
  51. infuriated him, thus  leading him to a
  52. seriously  dangerous  volatile  state.
  53. I'd heard  reports of Magic stealthily
  54. using my  nick on  #amigascne  begging
  55. support  for  Devotion #2,  where  the
  56. unexpecting supporters would infact be
  57. sending  their  articles  to  his  new
  58. email address. Though failing  in  his
  59. initial sabotage attempt, he  began to
  60. pester  Mr.Tickle/Darkage  asking  for
  61. the Devotion  source  code. Of course,
  62. Mr.Tickle was  already informed I  was
  63. working on  a  new issue and Magic was
  64. promptly  refused  any  access  to the
  65. Devotion  source.   Ultimately,  Magic
  66. sank  to  a   disreputable  level.  He
  67. announced  he  would  create  his  own
  68. magazine, and he'd  name it "Devotion"
  69. but  not  ONLY  that,  he  claimed  to
  70. release it as "Devotion #2".  »CLB:At  this
  71. point I'd  obtained Magic  had  really
  72. lost  his  mentality»CL1:. Fair enough, one
  73. can  maybe  understand  he  was fairly
  74. upset. Still, would you  go  as far as
  75. he did?  Concluding  the matter,  I at
  76. least  hope I've achieved  my  goal of
  77. clearing a part  of Magic's cloud over
  78. Devotion. »CL6:Always  remember  that Magic
  79. was infact  removed from the  Devotion
  80. staff after releasing the debut issue.
  81. »CL1:From  that  moment  on,   he   had  no
  82. connection  of   any   kind  with  the
  83. magazine.

  97. »CL0:           What About Wade?

  99. »CL1:My initial idea was to create Devotion
  100. #2 alone,  obviously  a  smaller  size
  101. issue  than  the  first  release.  »CL6:I'd
  102. decided to eliminate various sections,
  103. including: party reports, adverts  and
  104. so on»CL1:. I'd actually explained  this to
  105. Wade in  multiple conversations and he
  106. picked  up  some  motivation along the
  107. way, and with  Magic  out of the staff
  108. he   seemed    genuinely   interested.
  109. Without expecting  a positive  answer,
  110. I  asked  him  to team up with me, and
  111. he agreed. Everything was going better
  112. than I had planned! Even  further down
  113. the line Sane followed Wade and teamed
  114. up with me. Before  I knew it, between
  115. the three of us, we had created almost
  116. an entire issue. I'd already collected
  117. the majority  of  the  modules and the
  118. title  picture. We  were  set  to  go.
  119. However,  when  I  initially   started
  120. working on  the  second issue,  »CL8:I  had
  121. plenty  of  time  on  my  hands  while
  122. unemployed»CL1:. A  little  way into making
  123. the  new  issue  I  found myself a new
  124. full-time  job.  Still  I had time and
  125. motivation. It  wasn't   until  a  few
  126. weeks had passed  everything began  to
  127. take its toll. Coming  in from work, I
  128. had  time  for  my  meal and a shower,
  129. then I'd be out with my girlfriend and
  130. son till late. As  soon  as  I arrived
  131. home  again, I'd be so  tired  I  just
  132. wanted sleep, which  is  all one  did.
  133. Following   this   routine,   I   lost
  134. complete  interest  in  the  scene and
  135. computers  in  general.  Hence neither
  136. »CL6:Wade nor Sane received any  life signs
  137. from me over  quite  a  long period of
  138. time»CL1:. Following these events, Wade and
  139. Sane decided  enough  was  enough  and
  140. they  went  on  without me.  Mr.Tickle
  141. passed the source  over to Wade and he
  142. had to  start  from scratch with  only
  143. articles   from   Sane   and  himself.

  145. »CL0:            Backstabbing?
  146.  
  147. »CL1:As  you   now  know,   there   was  no
  148. backstabbing  of  any  kind  involved.
  149. Infact I would've done the same if the
  150. situation  were  reversed, and if  any
  151. bitter feelings  remain  against Wade,
  152. always  remember: "»CLC:If  it  wasn't  for
  153. Wade,  Devotion  #2  would  still   be
  154. sitting  half finished on Darkus' HD!»CL1:"
  155. I haven't  spoken  to  Sane  since the
  156. release   of  issue  2,   however  I'm
  157. guessing we're  still  friendly.  Wade
  158. and I have no problems whatsoever with
  159. each other. Just  before my concluding
  160. lines, »CL8:I would  like  to apologise  to
  161. everyone  I   let   down   within  the
  162. Devotion team»CL1:. Wade, Sane, Reed,  Zaac
  163. & Mr.Tickle.  I  hope  they will  once
  164. again  trust  me  in the future.  I'll
  165. close     the      article     sending
  166. congratulations  to everyone  involved
  167. with Devotion #2, it  was  undoubtedly
  168. the best  magazine  released over  the
  169. last few years. They  have  my deepest
  170. respect.
